Lamborghini reveals luxury Android smartphone, tablet

Lamborghini Android
I said it a couple of months back when reporting on the TAG Heuer Racer Android smartphone, and I will say it again here: I don’t think highly of luxury smartphone manufacturers, but I think a lot less of those who actually go out and purchase such a device. That being said, Lamborghini has just announced an Android smartphone as well as an Android tablet.

The luxury Android smartphone produced by the makers of the Murciellago is called the Lamborghini TL700 and has specs that no Android fan will lust for, although the justification for its huge $2,750 price comes in the form of the expensive materials used for its case, such as crocodile skin and gold. Here is the spec list:
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • 3.7 inch WVGA sapphire crystal display
  • A Qualcomm processor (Lambo weren’t kind enough to share the frequency or architecture)
  • Unknown amount of RAM
  • 5 MP primary camera, 2 MP secondary camera
  • 4GB internal memory
  • 1,400 mAh battery

I won’t waste any more of your time and crush all your hopes that the Lamborghini Android tablet will be better equipped than the smartphone. If we’re to judge on a performance level (and since we’re an Android website, we obviously do), the Lamborghini L2800 tablet is also way below the mid-range level, but at least the Italian sports car manufacturer they were willing to share a little more about the actual specs:
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread (awful, right?)
  • 9.7 inch sapphire crystal display running at a 1024 by 768 pixels
  • 1.2 GHz Qualcomm processor (no word about its internal architecture, although I’m betting on single core A8)
  • 512 MB of RAM
  • 5 MP primary camera, 2 MP secondary camera
  • Support for MicroSD cards
  • The L2800 will be priced slightly lower than the Lambo Android smartphone, at around $2,300. Clarification on this story: Tonino Lamborghini is a separate company from the sports car manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini. They share the same name because “Tonino Lamborghini” was founded by Ferrucio Lamborghini’s son.  We apologize for any confusion this may have caused our readers.
Are there any Android fans amongst our readers that would be interested in buying the Lamborghini TL700 or the L2800? If so, I’d advise towards getting an Asus Transformer Prime and donating the remaining sum for charity: you’ll be way better off!
